Hit School In The Sweet Spot
What does it feel like to hit a 100 mile-per-hour fastball? A batter who doesn’t connect quite right can be left with chattering teeth, and arms that feel like they were the weapons of choice in a slap fest between Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. But, did you
know that hits that fly furthest usually cause the batter to feel very little impact? Why? Because of a little something on the bat called “the sweet spot.” When the force of the swing and the location of the impact align with the speed and spin of the pitch, magic happens. As a student, finding balance is crazy difficult, and when life gets out of alignment it can be teeth-chattering and painful. But when you find the sweet spot in your studies and social life, your biggest accomplishments start to seem easy. Come get some tips for hitting school and life in the sweet spot.

Adam Hailstone lives in Cedar City, Utah, where he graduated from George Wythe University with a BA in Liberal Arts. After college, Adam started two small businesses. He had big plans and it was a great learning experience, but something was missing. Then, a few years ago, Adam sold his businesses to join the faculty of Williamsburg Academy full time. It was one of the best decisions he ever made. Adam loves what he does; getting to help students look at the world, its people, cultures, problems and beauty, and showing them how to navigate it and take opportunities to change it. His goal as a mentor is to help students to look inwardly and see themselves as they really are and then decide to become what they see.

LEARNING THE VALUE OF FAILURE
There is value in failure. We almost never get it right the first time. It takes practice and enormous effort to achieve our goals. The potential we have and our capacity for greatness is unlimited. But on this journey towards greatness we all stumble, trip, and fall. It is then that we need the courage and motivation to stand back up, dust our knees off, wipe the tears, and try one more time.

"Mushin, The Mind of No Mind" Mastering Focus of Ancient Sword Masters
Many a book has been written, and later movies, that portrayed the combat prowess of the ancient sword masters of Asia. Their tales somehow seem almost unbelievable and their abilities super human. Whatever the story, from Ninja, Samurai and Warrior Monk come some of the bravest exploits in recorded history. The sword is arguably the only weapon designed solely for the purpose of taking a human life in battle. This was not some far off shot carefully aimed from behind a walled city or embankment. These battles were fought face to face with a three foot sharpened and pointed blade. One mistake meant almost certain death. It is in this scene we find our subject, Masters of Mushin, the Mind of No Mind. This level of focus, perhaps does not exist today, without training. The heart of the Peace Warrior beats strongly with techniques passed from master to student for centuries, and now this focus can be yours too. Improve your confidence, your safety and your life by learning the Mind of No Mind...Mushin!

Tricia Leslie is the Founder and Owner of Silhouette Ballroom Studios in Bountiful, Utah. Having danced since she was a youth, Tricia wanted to create a place for youth to have a positive and uplifting experience while in their "coming of age" years. She wanted a place for youth to gain confidence, personal character, virtue, and leadership experience that was in a safe environment for them to be able to be themselves. After teaching at Utah State University and South Davis Liber Academy, Tricia took all these values that were so important to her and created Silhouette Ballroom Studios. Seven years later, the studio's mission still follows these values as well as honesty, modesty, respect, and building friendships that will last a life time. Her focus is to help students keep their roots but give them wings.
