College By Age 12: How Did We Do It?
You’ve heard their story, now come find the answer to the question on everyone’s mind, “How did you do it?” Mona Lisa and Kip Harding are just your average high school sweethearts with ten children. Except seven of those ten children all went to college by the age of twelve (so far!), and the youngest three are well on their way to joining them. The three oldest have gone on to become an engineer by 22, an architect with her own practice, and one of the youngest doctors in the Navy. The boys are currently studying to become a computer scientist, a musician/composer, and a scholar of the Middle Ages. The next one now in college (age 11) is already considering the field of law! In this presentation Kip and Mona Lisa share their simple strategy that led to monumental success.

Kip and Mona Lisa Harding are the authors of The Brainy Bunch and Christian Homeschooling parents of ten children. Kip and Mona Lisa have a strong belief in a concept called "student-centered learning". That belief led them to an experiment which produced remarkable results--their children entering college by age 12! No, the children weren't born with extraordinary brains. They are just average ordinary children who were given the opportunity to follow their own passions and interests. Their three oldest now have successful careers as an engineer, architect and doctor and the others are well on their way. Kip and Mona Lisa’s story is an uplifting, extraordinary, and ultimately relatable one that any parent can achieve.

Balancing Homeschool & Business
Just managing a homeschool can be challenging, but throw in running a business or working from home, and it is enough to drive any woman crazy!
This class is for people who are struggling with that balance! We will be talking about 3 tools that have helped me over the past 3 years, and they can help you as well. You will come away with renewed energy and excitement, and most importantly, a different mindset about how to approach your day. You will also understand how clarity and focus about what you WANT, determines what you are able to create in your life. If you currently work or run a business while homeschooling, you will want to be there!

Heidi Totten is the owner of Heidi Totten Consulting and a serial entrepreneur, but her main role is homeschooling her two children, ages 8 and 11. She first felt the pull to homeschool when her son was born, but in 2007 helped start a charter school where her children attended for a couple of years until the pull was too strong. They began their homeschool journey in early 2012 and haven't looked back.  Running a business and homeschooling requires some serious time management! Heidi has created a system that allows her to manage both, and is now teaching that system to other homeschooling families.

Passion-driven Education:
How I Use Angry Birds to Teach My Son

Homeschooling families—especially those who have recently decided to leave the government school system—constantly find themselves on the hunt for good curriculum. Sincere parents struggle to give their children an educational roadmap, and in the process end up requiring their children to learn information simply because it's included in the curriculum.

Should faceless curriculum creators dictate what your child learns, and when? Or is there a better way?

Join homeschooling dad, bestselling author, and public policy expert, Connor Boyack, as he explains the theory of passion-driven education, and some compelling examples of how it works. More importantly, you'll learn simple, practical tips for helping your children discover their interests and acquire both general and specialized knowledge as they pursue those interests.

Education should be fun! Especially as homeschoolers, we should never hear the question "Why do I have to learn this?" from our children. Come learn how passion-driven education solves that problem, and can enable your child to truly love learning.

Connor Boyack is the founder and president of Libertas Institute, a free market think tank in Utah. In that capacity, he has spearheaded a number of successful policy reforms in areas such as homeschooling deregulation, civil asset forfeiture, food freedom, civil liberties, and government transparency. Previously he worked with the Tenth Amendment Center, encouraging state-based opposition to unconstitutional congressional mandates.

Connor is the author of several books, including the popular "Tuttle Twins" series for children, teaching kids age 5-10 about the principles of liberty. His most recent book, Feardom, is a unique exposé of how politicians use fearmongering to acquire more power. The book has been endorsed by a wide range of people, from conservative commentator Walter Williams to the liberal president of the ACLU, Anthony Romero. Tom Woods, a well known historian and economist, authored the foreword.

Connor is a frequent public speaker and commentator on current events, and is regularly featured on national TV, radio, and online media outlets. He lives near Salt Lake City, Utah, with his wife and two children.

Using Travel to Enhance Your Children's
Understanding of the World

One of the greatest blessing we have given our children is the gift of travel. We have incorporated it into every part of our lives including their homeschooling.  We have found no better way to understand the wonderful diversity of the world than to travel with hands on experiences. This has opened up our children's minds like nothing else could. It has given them the opportunity to share their views and feelings about what they see and learn. It has in many ways given them a deeper appreciation of what they have been blessed with.
One of the reasons families don't experience this kind of world travel is often because the cost far exceeds the budget. We have discovered ways that blow away the budget excuse. We have traveled 3 weeks in Europe with 4 children in tow for around $2500.00 total (that is for all 6 of us). That includes air, accommodations, transportation, food, fun and more. Come learn our secrets in this fascinating journey and the incredible experiences that have come from our adventures.

Dale and Michelle Bartlett are the authors of two internationally known travel books and multiple social media sites and blog with information designed to help people travel more for much less than most could ever dream. They are best known for their first book, Have Kids - Will Travel and for being the family travel experts, but are quickly becoming experts on inexpensive travel for anyone, singles, couples or families.  In 1997, the Bartlett’s began discovering different ways anyone can travel inexpensively and sometimes free. Their first trip with their four children to France and England cost them a total of $4000.00 including air, hotel, car rental, food and fun. They have since found ways to cut this much more drastically. As acclaimed speakers, the Bartlett’s have shared the podium with such notable personalities as New York Times Bestselling Author Richard Paul Evans, Paula Fellingham founder of The Women's Information Network, noted Author and "Get Away Guru" Larry Gelwix (real life coach of the team featured in the movie, Forever Strong), John Taylor Gatto, Rebecca W. Keller, Ph.D and Alice Fulton-Osborne. The Bartlett’s have been featured on television morning shows, radio programs, as well as in multiple newspapers across the country and countless articles in print.

Clarity, Made Simple

Aisake Vuikadavu- is a homeschool Dad, who spent 6 years in a Boarding School in Fiji. He enjoys the learning freedom that homeschooling provides in addition to the raw confidence that it nurtures in children. Unleashing Your Pen!
If you ask any homeschooling parent if they want their children to be powerful writers, they will always say “Yes!” But after buying expensive programs and seeking out the cutest graphic organizers on the vast currents of the internet...somehow…things don’t quite work out as they envisioned. Maybe your teenager hates to write or your child struggles with the mechanics of whether he needs a comma or an apostrophe (so he dangles it somewhere in the middle to cover all the bases!). I’d like to propose something completely different for teaching writing in your home. What if you could clue into a cycle that happens naturally and, by facilitating it, you could help your students to find their own writing voice? In this session you will learn some of the skills of being a great writer and, even more importantly, being a great writing coach. You are already giving them a great education—it’s time to help them develop a skill which will allow them to communicate what they know with confidence and persuasion.

Kathy Mellor - My mission is to help people find their "voice" or message and to help them gain the knowledge and skills to unleash it. I am a liberal arts mentor with over a dozen years of experience and I have spoken to thousands of people on a variety of topics, including keynoting.

FRESH JUICE: Encouraging and Fostering Creativity in Education
We were all born to create. From the time we were small, we actively used our imaginations as we thought up impossible ideas and learned by exploring our world. However, for most of us that creative fire was extinguished at some point on the elementary school conveyer belt. Creativity is undervalued in traditional schools and often discouraged altogether. Adults educated in the conveyer belt model often struggle with right-brained thinking skills that were stifled at a young age. Now, faced with trying to give our children a different kind of education, we find ourselves faced with problems that we don’t know how to fix, causing frustration and reverting us back to our conveyer belt training. Come and learn how to exercise your right-brain muscles, tap back into your natural creative flow, and find a balance in your homeschool between data & skills and intuition & imagination. Find confidence in your creative capacities to solve any problem, teach with inspiration, and foster creativity in your children.

Brian Halley is a homeschooling father of 3. He turned his childhood love for art into a successful career in graphic design, working with brands like Jelly Belly, Reebok, and the NBA. In Leanna's presentation she will be sharing some keys that make mealtime fun for kids, foods that will heal and warning signs. She will also Give tips on how to empower your kids to be accountable. Leanna has a passion for helping you take control of your life and create the balance you desire.

Leanna Christensen is a mother of four, an educator, GSG Life instructor and Zone Balance practitioner. Because of the health challenges of Leanna's children, she implemented new lifestyle habits that saved one of her child's life. This of course was no easy task and came with lots of resistance from others, especially her children. During this process she discovered her children were hoarding and hiding candy, and lied to her. This was when Leanna realized that each person needs to be accountable for their own health, even children. By teaching her kids awareness and giving them opportunities to try new things they slowly began to take control of their health and ask questions that helped them achieve balance. Leanna knows that by improving your health, you will increase your quality of life, and that is what makes it all worth it. Becoming a POWERFUL Math Mentor
Is your math just making calculators out of your kids? If so, why are they memorizing math rules and procedures or even studying math at all if they have an actual calculator that can do everything they're being taught? The hard truth is, we don’t need human calculators any more, we need self-reliant, powerful thinkers. Think about it, no one sat down with Isaac Newton and told him: “here are the 3 steps to do calculus.” He had to observe patterns. He struggled. He hypothesized. He experimented. He failed. And then, he discovered calculus. Your kids can do this too. They can become self-reliant thinkers through what I call the Discovery Method. Families across the world are thriving in this new approach to math. For them, math has become an engaging and powerful part of their homeschooling. They’ve learned to unlock the potential that mathematics has to teach their children how to think and reason and become self-reliant problem solvers. So if you think to yourself: I am worried that my kids are behind in math. I’m not sure I know math, so how am I supposed to teach it? I am sick of sending my kids off with workbooks. I wish my kids didn’t dread doing math. I wish I didn’t dread math time. My kids are doing the work, but are they really learning math? Then this presentation is for you. Come learn how you can do this in your home, no matter what curriculum you are using. It’s time to create the math program you really want.

Emily Dyke is co-founder of Math Inspirations and author of Hands On Math and 10 Things Every Parent Should Know About Math. Emily’s pursuit of professional teaching began at Brigham Young University. Emily’s mentor, renowned math education guru, Dr. Blake Peterson, asked Emily to join him in researching task-based learning and teaching. Under Dr. Peterson, Emily mastered the art of teaching a deep, conceptual understanding of math. After three years of study, Emily moved to Yuma, AZ to teach at Yuma High School. In 2012, Emily and her husband Joe moved their family to the Phoenix valley and founded Math Inspirations in order to mentor and empower homeschool families through the Discovery Method.

Helping Your Teenagers Conquer The ACT
So you’ve spent the last decade helping your child learn math. Hundreds of hours of flash cards and worksheets and $$$ on textbooks and now all that effort is about to be judged by the
“supreme math court,” the ACT/SAT test. This judgment day can be a daunting and stressful time for your student, and you too. Hardest of all is that their time to complete their preparation now seems so limited, counting down the days and months before the test. How do you maximize the time that your student has to get the best result possible? Should they cram? Should they just take a million practice tests? Should they wait another year? These are difficult questions that millions of parents have struggled with before. There is an answer to these questions. In fact, the answer is surprisingly simple - and I’ve seen it help every age of student, with every math background, find success on the ACT/SAT. If you have teenage students, no matter how strong or weak their math talent, this presentation is for you. Come learn the one simple secret to maximize the results of your student on these high-stakes tests.

Joe Dyke-Joe’s love affair with learning began at a young age, being the son of devout teachers.  As a volunteer missionary after high school, he developed a passion for effective and impactful teaching. Joe studied Arabic and Middle Eastern Politics & History at Brigham Young University, and found his way back to teaching through the  Arizona Teaching Fellows program. Joe was selected to teach high school math in San Luis, AZ for two years where he challenged the traditional education system while he and Emily continued to develop their ideas of what math education should look like.  After moving with Emily to Phoenix and teaching in one more year of high school math, he joined Emily full-time in mentoring students and training parents in the Discovery Method.  He is living his dream of empowering parents’ teaching and  illuminating students’ understanding of mathematics.

The Key Pattern of Learning
"Will I mess up my children?"  "Will I skip something in their learning?" The truth is you will mess them up, and you will skip things in their learning. But there is hope! When a child knows how to listen to their intuition and how to learn they will be able to accomplish any lesson or exam life hands them. By following a simple pattern of learning you will know what to say, know you are enough and get a good nights sleep.

Tresta Neil is the co-creator of Keystone Education and co-directs the LDS Homeschool Conference with her amazing husband, Thom. She is the author of God Saw That It Was Good, and The Key Pattern of Learning. She is a sought after speaker throughout the nation, teaches online classes and mentors others on family relationships, systems and homeschooling. As a child she believed the words "you're stupid" and when she barely graduated High School she had proof. After graduating college with two degrees, Tresta still felt unintelligent. In 1998 when her husband asked her to homeschool their four small children she panicked, how could she teach them? what if it wasn't enough? she could ruin them! She found a wonderful mentor to guide her. She spent the next several years in a small basement apartment hiding from the world and teaching her children in secret. During that time she discovered how to learn and how to make connections between the mind and the heart by focusing on Christ and the language of symbolism. In her presentations you will learn to connect more deeply with God and your children and experience the joy of seeing the light of understanding move from their mind to their heart.

Do Emotions Matter?
Yes, of course. But what are they specifically?  What do you need to know about emotions in order to have your home run smoothly?  How do you teach your children about them?  As everyone knows, a grumpy kid definitely affects how the day runs.  A frazzled mom or dad affect the home too!  Learn principles relating to emotions, and you will know how to empower yourself and children in any circumstance.

Janet Ashcroft Summit and her husband Don are the parents of 11 children,  and now four grandchildren, too. Janet is a homemaker, and of course that job includes several roles:  educator (educating her children has been a top priority), nutritionist, wellness coach, emotional health counselor,  etc.   Their children have provided them with a real-life laboratory for study!  Janet is author of The Martha Principle, and teaches classes on understanding emotions.  She says there is nothing as wonderful as the feeling of "aha" and "peace" that come when we understand what we think and feel.

12 Steps for Avoiding Homeschool Burn-out

It is interesting and even shocking to realize that over 86% of the parents who felt inspired to homeschool their children, quit within 3 years.  Why?  What made some parents stick it out, and most others give it up?  Dr. Kimber will explain the 12 ways to help you “stick it out” and make it a blessing in your lives, not a curse. Having been involved in the homeschooling and private school movement for over 40 years, he has seen well-intentioned parents enter the homeschool field feeling inspired and directed by the heavens to become more involved in their child’s education -- and within a short period of time saw them leave the educational movement broken-hearted, and many times feeling like a failure.  Don’t let this happen to you!  Learn the 12 steps that can be easily achieved, and which can make your homeschooling experience one of the great thrills of your life.  This class is a must for all those who feel inspired to homeschool, and want to feel successful.  Learn how to isolate the children under mother’s care, while she insulates them with the Spirit and proper education, so they can go into the world, and not be of the world.

Glenn Kimber was born and raised in northern Utah. After graduating from High School he attended Weber State College. In 1965 he married Julianne Skousen and shortly thereafter he joined the Air Force where he served for 4 years, including one tour of duty to Vietnam.

Upon returning from Vietnam, Dr. Kimber continued his university studies graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University. He then joined with W. Cleon Skousen in establishing an educational foundation called the Freemen Institute, which was organized for the purpose of teaching American History and Constitutional studies. During the next number of years, Dr. Kimber presented patriotic seminars and conferences in all 50 states and in a number of foreign countries.

Dr. Kimber continued his education, receiving two Doctorate degrees, one in Constitutional Studies in 1992 from Coral Ridge Baptist University, based in Florida. He continued his educational pursuits and received a second Doctorate in education from George Wythe College.

Dr. Kimber established a series of private schools called the Benjamin Franklin Academies to incorporate a strong moral and patriotic curriculum back into the classroom. In 2001 he also established the Kimber Academies, a private school for students ages K – 12. He and his wife have authored over 100 textbooks and educational guides which emphasize the U.S. Constitution, America’s Founding Fathers, and moral and religious values in all five core subjects.

Currently, Dr. Kimber is the president of the Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Studies, and in that capacity conducts seminars throughout the United States called “The Healing of America.” This seminar series teaches participants 1) the founding of America, 2) the establishment of the U.S. Constitution, 3) America’s drift from the Constitution, and 4) how the greatness of America can be restored.
Dr. Kimber also conducts American History tours, and also tours to the Middle East, as well as Egypt, Jordan, and Israel.
He and his wife are the parents of 8 children, grandparents of 30, and currently reside in Cedar City, Utah.

They will share the recipe for creating simulations that will inspire greatness and teach the pitfalls to avoid.
